After seven years in industry as Transport Director of his family road haulage company, Peter decided to join the legal profession in 1975 and served his articles with Mason & Moore Dutton, Solicitors of Chester.

On his admission as a solicitor in 1979, Peter joined Maxwell Cooke & Co of Birkenhead, as an Assistant Solicitor, eventually becoming a Partner in 1985. In 1989 the firm’s name changed to Berkson & Berkson, following an amalgamation with that firm, and when Berksons later acquired George Wallace Solicitors in the mid 1990’s, Peter became a partner with both firms. Following the recent merger of the two firms to become Berkson Wallace, Peter continues to be the Senior Partner, handling an active caseload of personal injury and civil litigation files.

Outside of work, Peter’s lifelong passion for riding and caring for horses keeps him busy as he owns seven!

James became a Partner of Berkson Wallace following the merger of George Wallace and Berkson & Berkson in December 2006, and currently manages the firm’s Property and Estates department.

Having left school to work on an engineering shop floor, his career progressed over the years into instrument design and installation. In the early 1980's, he took a major sideways step into financial services and, before joining the legal profession he was the National Sales Manager of a small UK life insurance company.

James' hobbies have included; scuba diving, car racing (quite successfully), motor-cycle racing (very badly), pot-holing (he remains a member of the Cave Rescue Team) flying light and micro-light aircraft and he even built his own wooden framed bi-plane. His next hobby is likely to be building a hovercraft (if he has the space), paragliding or land yachting. Obviously, not an easy man to buy life insurance for!

Gareth is married and has one teenage son. He entered the legal profession in 1988 and has been qualified as a solicitor for 14 years.

Throughout his career he has specialised in civil litigation, dealing with a variety of matters including commercial claims, commercial debt collection and buildings and construction cases.

Over the last 10 years he has developed a particular expertise in road traffic personal injury claims. Gareth has a keen interest in highway accidents and is also a member of the Equine & Animal Lawyers Association. Gareth practised on his own account and ran his own firm for six years, merging into Berkson’s in February 2006.

Gareth has a keen interest in music, and only became a lawyer when he failed to secure a major record deal. His ambitions are to retire early to a sunny climate (he continues to buy a lottery ticket in hope) and to host a Judgment Sunday at Eden, Ibiza.
